Hezbollah is continuing to launch devastating strikes against military targets in northern Israel, including military bases, a major defense factory, and even one incident involving an Israeli fighter jet being targeted with anti-aircraft missiles.
Hezbollah’s recent escalated conflict with Israel has been ongoing since Oct. 7, in retaliation for the Israeli offensive against Gazans and the high number of Palestinian civilians being killed. (Related: Hezbollah urges Lebanon to “OPEN THE SEA” to migrant boats to further destabilize Europe.)
According to a statement from Hezbollah, on June 12, the Lebanese militant group fired a salvo of rockets and missiles, targeting an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) base at Ruwaisat al-Qarn in Shebaa Farms, a strip of land occupied by Israel since 1978 and claimed by Lebanon as part of the town of Shebaa.
The Hezbollah salvos also targeted two alleged IDF sites – Ramtha and Al-Samaqa – in Kfarchouba (also known as Kfar Shuba), a village internationally recognized as part of southern Lebanon not far from the Shebaa Farms that Hezbollah claims is still occupied by Israeli forces.
Hezbollah also claims to have struck a command center for the IDF’s Northern Command in Ein Zeitim, about seven miles south of the border with Lebanon. The Northern Command’s 91st Division – known as the Galilee Formation – was also specifically targeted when its reserve command headquarters at its standby base and its warehouses were targeted.
Hezbollah claims to have launched at least 17 military strikes against Israeli targets on June 12, a record number since the start of the conflict.

Other major sites allegedly targeted by Hezbollah include a factory by Israeli defense company Plasan specializing in armoring military vehicles in the village of Sasa, less than three miles from the border with Lebanon; an Israeli Air Force Command and Control Base on Mount Meron, the tallest mountain in Israel; and military sites and barracks in Ramya, Al-Raheb and Zar’it.
Israeli fighter jet targeted with anti-air systems for the first time
Among Hezbollah’s recent strikes against Israel comes from reports from Israeli media which the IDF later confirmed of a group of Hezbollah operatives who attempted to take down an Israeli fighter jet.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, June 9, involved a team of Hezbollah militants stationed near the coastal city of Tyre who targeted an Israeli Air Forces fighter jet – possibly an F-16, although the actual aircraft that was targeted is still unconfirmed –with anti-aircraft missiles as it was flying over southern Israel.
The IDF claims that the jet did not sustain any significant damage, however, it did acknowledge that the occurrence was a noteworthy development, as no Israeli fighter jets had been targeted before this incident. The IDF launched a counterattack “minutes later,” claiming that a fighter jet “struck and eliminated” the Hezbollah unit that carried out the operation.
“It appeared to be the first use of anti-aircraft missiles in Lebanon against Israeli jets since war broke out eight months ago, and came after several weeks that have seen Hezbollah slowly ratchet up the scale, intensity and reach of hostilities,” said the IDF in a statement.
While this is the first time that Hezbollah has targeted a piloted Israeli warplane, the militant group has had some success in using anti-aircraft missiles and other weapons against Israeli drones.
Just one day after this incident, videos circulated on social media showing Hezbollah successfully downing an Israeli Hermes 900 drone. At least two other Hermes 900s had been shot down before this incident. Furthermore, at least two Hermes 450 drones had already been shot down, with military analysts noting that Hezbollah is having increased success against medium- and large-sized Israeli drones.
