Poll: Majority of Democratic voters believe Israel is COMMITTING GENOCIDE in Gaza and Biden is supporting it
A recent poll has found that a majority of likely Democratic voters believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza in a military campaign supported by President Joe Biden.
When asked if they believe Israel was committing genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza, 56 percent of Democrats, 36 percent of Independents and 23 percent of Republicans said yes. This amounts to 39 percent of “all likely voters” believing that Israel is committing genocide. Thirty-eight percent disagree and 23 percent do not know.
The poll also discovered that 55 percent of Democratic voters “disapprove” of the clampdown on student protests against the war at college campuses across the United States, another position placing Democratic voters at odds with Biden, who has strongly criticized the demonstrations.
The poll also showed a rise in support for a ceasefire in Gaza among all respondents. It discovered that 70 percent of all likely voters supported the idea of the U.S. pushing for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Broken down, 83 percent of Democrats, 65 percent of independents and 56 percent of Republicans want a ceasefire. This is an increase from 67 percent who supported a permanent ceasefire back in February.
Data for Progress published a related poll in February that discovered 67 percent of American voters supported the idea of a permanent ceasefire.
The call for a ceasefire in Gaza is an issue that the Biden administration has been at odds with the American public with the U.S. hesitating on the issue eventually. The Biden administration has refused to call for a ceasefire that is not connected to an agreement to release all hostages, with the White House claiming that a mostly unconditional ceasefire would only benefit Hamas.

The Biden administration is slowly rethinking its support of Israel. It recently declared a halt to a weapons shipment to Israel over concerns over civilian casualties in Rafah amid a renewed Israeli assault on the city where over a million Palestinians have sought refuge. The administration is reviewing or halting future arms shipments to Israel.
Nevertheless, over the last seven months of the war, America has continued to support giving massive arms shipments to Israel even though a plurality of voters – 46 percent – disapprove of Congress’ authorization of $4 billion in aid to Israel to replenish the ammunition for its missile systems, while 37 percent believe military aid to Israel should decrease.
Among Democrats, 52 percent disapprove of the aid authorization and 42 percent think overall military aid to Israel should decrease. Among Republicans, 37 percent disapprove of the authorization and 28 percent want aid to shrink.
Concerns over U.S. support for Gaza genocide could affect November election
The war in Gaza could have a huge effect on the U.S. general election in November, especially among younger Americans and first-time voters who have been notably vocal about the progress of the war, earning Biden the derogatory moniker “Genocide Joe” among young progressives. At least 90 universities across the country have hosted protests against Israel’s war on Gaza amid concern that those universities may be investing resources into companies that aid the genocide.
Protests have repeatedly been met with violence from law enforcement agencies after university administrations have called police forces to break up encampments and sit-ins of their students.
The suppression of university protests has been another dividing force among the American public.
The newest poll shows 46 percent of all likely voters disapprove of “limiting students’ rights and abilities to protest Israel’s military operations.”
The split among party lines once again sees greater disapproval among Democrats (55 percent) in comparison to Republicans (36 percent).
