(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) After years of vegan lifestyle promoting pseudo-studies condemning red meat, serious studies have been published revealing that the protein-rich food is a positive good.
Scientists at the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation found that red meat has been demonized by lazy scientists, or even scientists with political or economic agendas, the Post Millennial reported. According to the study’s findings, the so-called evidence linking red meat to various diseases has been vastly overstated.
“We found weak evidence of association between unprocessed red meat consumption and colorectal cancer, breast cancer, type 2 diabetes and ischemic heart disease,” they wrote.
Unprocessed red meat in particular has almost no indication of causing negative health effects.
“We found no evidence of an association between unprocessed red meat and ischemic stroke or hemorrhagic stroke,” they continued.
According to Dr. Steven Novella, a Yale neurologist, the only major problem with red meat is that eating it in great excess might cause one to miss out on nutrients from other foods, like vegetables.
“There is, however, more evidence for a health risk from eating too few vegetables. That is really the risk of a high-meat diet, those meat calories are displacing vegetable calories,” Novella noted.
“The evidence for a direct vascular or heath risk from eating meat regularly is very low, to the point that there is probably no risk.”
The problems of the food industrial complex stem back at least to the late 1940s, when Proctor and Gamble, in exchange for a $1.7 million donation, secured the heart healthy stamp of approval for its seed oil animal fat replacement, Crisco, from the American Heart Association.
Vegetable oils and grains were promoted as a staple of a healthy diet for decades following big agriculture’s partnership with government agencies.
Since that time, seed oils–some of which are used as male birth control products in China–have found their way into virtually every mass-produced American food, leading to massive drops in testosterone, even among young men.
Further, the rejection of animal-based foods, including organ meats and dairy products, and the replacement of those foods by lab-created and vegetable-based products, has played no small part in the mass obesity epidemic that has struck Americans in the past 60 years.
