House Passes AMAC Action-Backed Bill to Strengthen Border Security

AMAC Action is applauding the House for passing the Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025 (H.R. 3486), a landmark bill that strengthens border security and imposes tougher penalties on illegal crossers. AMAC’s influence was instrumental in this victory, proving once again that the voice of the membership matters in Washington, DC. With passage in the House, the bill now heads to the Senate, where AMAC Action will continue to advocate for swift passage into law.

Legislation and Policy

H.R. 5348 – Social Security Child Protection Act of 2025

This legislation provides an essential safeguard for our youngest citizens by directing the Social Security Administration (SSA) to issue a new Social Security number (SSN) to children under the age of 14 whose SSN cards are lost or stolen during the mailing process. H.R. 5345 – Improving Social Security’s Service to Victims of Identity Theft Act

This legislation offers a common-sense, compassionate solution to the misuse of Social Security numbers by establishing a single point of contact within the Social Security Administration (SSA) for victims of identity theft. Too often, victims of identity theft are left to navigate a complex and unresponsive bureaucracy, compounding the distress caused by the crime itself. This bill will improve accountability, enhance efficiency, and provide much-needed personalized support to those affected. Click here to read AMAC Action’s letter of support.

CA AB 495 Opposes Anti-Parental Rights Bill in California

This bill is fundamentally flawed. This legislation still includes the expanded use of the Caregiver’s Authorization Affidavit that permits non-parents to make critical medical and educational decisions that are reserved for parents or legal guardians. Additionally, kinship may still be claimed without any requirement for notarization or parental consent, putting California’s children and grandchildren at tremendous risk for a stranger falsely claiming to be a relative and therefore making essential healthcare or schooling decisions. School and medical facilities are also relieved of any obligation to verify that the signer of the affidavit is the person they may say they are. AMAC Action urges Governor Newsom to veto this bad legislation. Click here to read AMAC Action’s letter of opposition.

Calls-to-Action

California Parents Urge Governor Newsom to Veto AB 495

California lawmakers passed AB 495, a dangerous bill that redefines the family and strips parents of their God-given authority. This radical measure would allow unrelated adults to make medical and school decisions for children—without parental consent. AMAC Action launched this call-to-action for Californians to urge Governor Newsom to veto this reckless legislation before it puts kids at risk and undermines parental rights.
