PHOENIX, AZ — A woman shot and killed her ex-boyfriend after he allegedly forced his way into her apartment late Tuesday night, according to Phoenix police.

As reported by FOX10 Phoenix, officers responded to a call around 11:25 p.m. on October 10 near 32nd Street and Southern Avenue. When they arrived, they found a woman outside with her two children. She told police she had shot her ex-boyfriend, who remained inside the apartment.

Officers entered and found a man unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Detectives say the woman and the man had recently ended their relationship. On the night of the incident, he reportedly came to the apartment and forced his way inside. The woman then fired at him and exited the home to meet officers.

She was interviewed by police and released. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators say a charging decision will be made once the case is fully reviewed.

This incident highlights the importance of being armed and prepared, especially when responsible for protecting others. When someone unlawfully forces their way into your home, there may be no time to wait for help. In this case, the woman had the means to defend herself and her children from a potentially deadly threat. Having a firearm accessible, understanding how to use it, and being mentally prepared to act under pressure can make all the difference in a life-threatening situation.
