On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), with over 2 million members nationwide, I write to thank you for your principled leadership in advancing S. 2651, the Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream (ROAD) to Housing Act of 2025.
At a time when skyrocketing housing costs and regulatory gridlock have left far too many Americans, especially seniors on fixed incomes, struggling to secure safe, affordable housing, your commitment to restoring opportunity and addressing long-neglected housing challenges is a welcome and necessary course correction. Your stewardship of the first bipartisan housing markup in over a decade is a rare and admirable example of what can happen when leaders prioritize results over rhetoric.
We are especially encouraged by the ROAD to Housing Act’s emphasis on expanding and preserving housing supply without top-down federal mandates; encouraging local zoning reforms through the Housing Supply Frameworks Act; streamlining rural housing programs and protecting small-town America; enhancing accountability through strengthened oversight of federal housing programs; and promoting economic mobility for families across generations.
Seniors across this country are not looking for handouts, they are looking for policies that respect their values, protect their communities, and secure the American Dream for their children and grandchildren. This legislation does just that. By focusing on practical solutions and working across the aisle without compromising core conservative principles, you are leading by example.
