Dating is a lighthearted experience for those simply seeking the pleasant company of another person. For most people over 50, dating is a serious step. This is especially true for widows or widowers and post-divorce individuals. Regardless of one’s situation, here are some questions people commonly ask about dating over 50.

• What’s the best way to meet someone new? Online dating has revolutionized the way people meet, interact, and find like-minded people. However, before jumping in, it’s important to be practical and understand the risks of online dating.  It’s also important to understand the matchmaking experiences offered on dating sites and associated costs. If you’re not into meeting online, and that’s okay, go the old-fashioned route instead, perhaps meeting someone through a mutual friend, a club, work, or a religious group as examples.  
• Is casual dating acceptable? For clarity, this means dating for fun without the express purpose of entering an exclusive or serious relationship.
