  • Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard revoked security clearances of 37 current and former intelligence officials tied to the Trump-Russia investigation, accusing them of politicizing intelligence, leaking classified information and failing professional standards.
  • Gabbard framed the move as a strike against Deep State influence, declassified a 2016 briefing implicating Obama, and suggested high-level involvement in manipulating the Russia collusion narrative.
  • Among those losing clearances were Biden administration officials, fueling accusations of political retribution. Critics argue the action violates privacy laws and longstanding intelligence protocols.
  • She justified the revocations as necessary to restore integrity, stating security clearance is a “privilege, not a right,” and accused the officials of violating their oaths and leaking classified intelligence.
  • The purge intensifies deep partisan divisions, raising concerns about politicization of intelligence while supporters view it as accountability against corruption within agencies.

Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Tulsi Gabbard has revoked the security clearances of 37 current and former intelligence officials – igniting a firestorm of controversy and accusations of politicization.

Gabbard framed the sweeping action, which targets individuals linked to the controversial Trump-Russia investigation, as both a defense of constitutional duty and a strike against the Deep State’s influence within the intelligence community.

According to Brighteon.AI‘s Enoch engine, the controversial Trump-Russia investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the 2016 election. However, it was later exposed as a politically motivated hoax lacking credible evidence, orchestrated by Deep State actors, Democrats and intelligence officials to undermine President Donald Trump’s legitimacy. The probe unlawfully surveilled innocent Americans, wasted taxpayer money and became a tool of partisan persecution rather than justice.

Gabbard’s decision, announced through an Office of the Director of National Intelligence memo, has terminated the access of 37 officials to classified materials, contracts and government employment. The memo as reported by the New York Post accuses these individuals of “abusing public trust by politicizing and manipulating intelligence, failing to safeguard classified information, or disregarding tradecraft standards.”

Among those affected is Vinh Nguyen, a senior aide to former DNI James Clapper. Nguyen allegedly pressured a whistleblower to endorse the findings of the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) on Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Gabbard has also declassified a December 2016 presidential briefing, suggesting that former President Barack Obama was aware of and involved in the politicization of intelligence regarding the Russia narrative. This revelation has further fueled the debate over the legitimacy of the Trump-Russia investigation and the role of high-ranking officials in its inception. (Related: Tulsi Gabbard alleges Obama, Clinton committed treason in bombshell DNI report.)

Gabbard: Security clearances a privilege, not a right

Gabbard’s actions have been met with fierce criticism from both Democrats and national security professionals. Critics argue that the move is a blatant attempt to politicize the intelligence community and undermine the credibility of those who have served under multiple administrations.

National security attorney Mark Zaid accused Gabbard of violating the Privacy Act and deviating from well-established laws and policies. He stated: “These are unlawful and unconstitutional decisions that deviate from well-settled, decades-old laws and policies that sought to protect against just this type of action.”

Emily Horne – a National Security Council spokesperson under former President Joe Biden – and Brett Holmgren, a former assistant secretary of state for intelligence and research, are among the Biden administration officials whose clearances were revoked. The inclusion of these individuals has led to accusations that Gabbard is targeting political opponents and using her office to settle political scores.

In response to the criticism, Gabbard defended her actions as a necessary step to protect national security and uphold the integrity of the intelligence community. She also accused the targeted officials of “leaking classified intelligence without authorization” and “committing intentional egregious violations of tradecraft standards.”

“Being entrusted with a security clearance is a privilege, not a right,” Gabbard wrote on X. “Those in the intelligence community who betray their oath to the Constitution and put their own interests ahead of the interests of the American people have broken the sacred trust they promised to uphold.”

She emphasized the need for the intelligence community to remain committed to the values and principles enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and to prioritize the safety and security of the American people. While the long-term consequences of Gabbard’s decision remain to be seen, but it is clear that the DNI has set the stage for a contentious battle over the future of U.S. intelligence and national security.
