AMAC hosted its “Bootcamp for Patriots” over the weekend at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia. Along with featuring dynamic and engaging discussions about critical issues facing America today, including immigration, indoctrination in the classroom, and election integrity, AMAC CEO Rebecca Weber also delivered a touching tribute to Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk, who was tragically killed during a speaking engagement in Utah earlier this month.

Kirk was scheduled to deliver virtual remarks at the Bootcamp. He leaves behind a wife and two children and a conservative movement devastated by the loss of one of its most effective communicators. But as Weber relayed, Kirk’s legacy lives on and his mission continues – as the Bootcamp itself was evidence of.

“On September 10th, when an assassin’s bullet took the life of Charlie Kirk, it tore a hole in all of our hearts,” Weber said. “We saw in horrifying, tragic detail just how real and serious the threats to our values are. Praise God, most of us will not be asked to lay down our lives for what we believe in. But Charlie had the rare type of courage that he was willing to take that risk every time he stepped on stage.”

“As a wife, a mother, and a grandmother, I wept for Charlie. In those first moments of uncertainty, I prayed desperately for a miracle. When I heard the news, I ran to my bedroom, where I keep my Bible. I opened it, asking God to give me a word of hope. My eyes fell on Daniel 6:27, where King Darius declared of God: ‘He delivers and rescues, and He works signs and wonders in heaven AND on earth, He who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions’… That assurance gave me strength, and it gave me clarity: Charlie’s death would not be in vain.”

As Weber also relayed, Kirk and Turning Point USA were strong supporters of AMAC and its mission. Last year, AMAC was notably the premier sponsor of Turning Point’s “The People’s Convention” in Detroit, Michigan.

“At first glance, a movement of high school and college students and a movement of older Americans might seem like an unlikely alliance,” Weber said. “But Charlie understood something deeply: the strength of the conservative movement rests in building bridges – uniting young and old around timeless American principles.”

“That is why AMAC and Turning Point worked so closely together. We know that the future of America, the future of Western civilization itself, depends on inspiring the next generation to understand who they are, where they came from, and why this is a good and great nation.”

Far from being discouraged by Charlie’s death, Weber spurred the attendees to carry on his mission and ensure that the shooter’s attempt to silence Charlie’s voice ultimately fails. “Charlie’s voice is louder today than ever before,” Weber said. “His death has not weakened this movement – it has emboldened it. His example has inspired millions to speak out more boldly, more fearlessly, more urgently. That is the mark of a truly great man: even after his death, he continues to change the world.”

While Charlie had a special passion for inspiring young conservatives, every American, regardless of age, can learn something from his example. And Weber committed to continuing to partner with Turning Point to build cross-generational bonds that will strengthen the country.

“Turning Point USA continues to raise up bold new leaders in our high schools and colleges, while AMAC continues to stand strong as the home for older Americans who refuse to sit quietly on the sidelines,” she said. “And together, this is more than just a partnership. It is a generational alliance – young and old, shoulder to shoulder, united with one purpose: to defend liberty, protect our values, and secure America’s future.”

“Charlie’s voice reminds us that the fight for America is far from over,” Weber concluded in a stirring moment that drew raucous applause from the audience. “At AMAC, our commitment is stronger than ever. We will carry forward what Charlie helped to build. And so, to Charlie, we say this: We are on the watch. We will not waver. We will not forget. Across the generations, we will carry the torch of liberty – and we will keep the flame of freedom burning bright for all who come after us.”
