BAINBRIDGE, GA — Taurus USA has officially announced the release of the Taurus 66 Combat, a revolver designed to merge classic reliability with modern performance features. The firearm is chambered in .357 Magnum and offers a host of enhancements that make it suitable for both concealed carry and home defense.

The 66 Combat builds on the foundation of Taurus’ successful Model 66 revolver but introduces several notable upgrades. The most immediate standout is its 7-shot capacity, giving shooters one more round than traditional six-shot medium frame revolvers.

Versatility remains a central feature. Chambered in .357 Magnum, the revolver is capable of firing both .357 Magnum and .38 Special ammunition, giving shooters flexibility from full-power defensive loads down to lighter training rounds.

For improved sighting, Taurus has included a high-visibility fiber optic front sight paired with a squared rear sight channel, allowing for fast and clear target acquisition. In addition, the revolver is optics-ready, drilled and tapped to accept Taurus Optics Ready Option plates, enabling the addition of red dot sights for even greater accuracy and speed.

The Taurus 66 Combat comes equipped with a 3-inch barrel, striking a balance between concealability and ballistic performance. This length allows most .357 Magnum loads to achieve effective velocity while still keeping the revolver compact enough for concealed carry.

Perhaps the most notable upgrade is the “combat tuned” trigger. Designed as double-action-only, it removes the hammer spur for faster draws and provides a smooth, rolling pull that revolver enthusiasts will appreciate.

According to Taurus, the design of the 66 Combat involved input from experienced revolver shooters, trainers, and end users, making it a firearm tailored to practical defensive use.

While many argue that revolvers have been eclipsed by modern semi-automatics, the Taurus 66 Combat demonstrates that wheelguns still hold a valuable place in personal defense. With its mix of capacity, versatility, and optics-ready capability, this revolver offers a compelling option for shooters who value simplicity and reliability.
