The full-scale assault of Gaza by Israel was never just about the Jewish state “defending itself” and preserving its “right to exist.” It is about committing mass genocide of the Palestinian people so Israel can annex the Gaza Strip and incorporate it into Greater Israel.

The recent ethnic cleansing of Jabalia in northern Gaza – see below – demonstrates precisely what Israel is doing and still plans to do. After driving millions of Palestinians south to Gaza’s border with Egypt, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) started bombing refugee camps in the north, including Jabalia.

Following the destruction of Jabalia, Israel started replacing the refugee camp and others near it with Jewish-only settlements and military bases. Whoever remains in the area is now being pressured to flee into exile or submit to what Max Blumenthal describes as a “high-tech UAE-U.S.-Israeli dictatorship, in which any expression of political protest is brutally punished.”
