Canada revokes Jewish National Fund’s charitable status after audit found group used donations to fortify Israeli military infrastructure
The Jewish National Fund of Canada (JNF Canada) is no longer a charity after our neighbors to the north revoked the group’s charity status.
The pro-Israel charity along with another like it called the Ne’eman Foundation failed a multi-year audit in which it was discovered that the two groups are funneling donations into the coffers of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), a foreign army, in violation of Canada’s tax codes.
JNF operates in several different countries with about 25 percent of its operating budget coming from the Canada branch.
The Ne’eman Foundation was found to have ties to an “undercover assassination unit” in the IDF known as the Duvdevan, as well as to lone soldiers such as Michael Levin Base (Base for Lone Soldiers) and Brothers for Life. Ne’eman also funneled donations into Reservists on Duty.
Money that was supposed to be used to help people in need, in other words, was redirected to Israel’s war effort.
Ne’emana also funded Israeli settler leader Daniella Weiss’ Nachla settler movement, Se’u Tziona Nes v’degel.
“Weiss, who advocates for Israeli settlements in the entirety of occupied Palestine, including Gaza, was placed on Canada’s sanctions list in June of this year,” reported Middle East Eye.

Many Israeli charities are IDF money machines in disguise
Founded in 1901 nearly five decades before the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. JNF is a private corporation that was explicitly created “with the purpose of purchasing land in what was then Ottoman-controlled Palestine.” Its slogan is “Making the desert bloom.”
After the rest of what is now widely recognized as occupied Palestine – Gaza, East Jerusalem and the West Bank – was captured by Israel after the Six-Day War, JNF changed its mission statement to “planting trees, building water reservoirs, preserving natural habitats, as well as building parks and bicycle trails.”
As of 2007, JNF owned around 13 percent of what is considered to be present-day Israel and occupied Palestinian territories. More than 70 percent of the Israeli population is said to live on land owned by JNF, which has policies in place to prohibit the sale or lease of land to non-Jews.
A 1991 documentary from CBC News – watch a clip below – highlights the hidden work of JNF. It focused its investigation on “Canada Park,” which features a Canadian flag at its entrance but that was built atop the ruins of three destroyed Palestinian villages: Beit Nuba, Imwas, and Yalu. More than 9,000 Palestinians were displaced by the Canada Park takeover, which occurred in 1975:
To add, JNF established “Canada Park” in 1975 on the ruins of the three ?? villages, Imwas, Beit Nuba, and Yalu, which Israel ethnically cleansed, destroyed, and illegally occupied in 1967. @CBCNews created a documentary about this park in 1991. 1/ https://t.co/rF0n4U83Sc pic.twitter.com/OrM5IT14tC

That JNF has long been categorized as a “nonprofit” with special tax-exempt status in Canada is an atrocity considering the group is an Israeli military funding operation operating as a private corporation.
“Thank you, Canada!” wrote Palestinian journalist Rami G. Khouri (@RamiKhouri) on X, formerly Twitter.
“The JNF has been a central instrument of Zionist colonialism, ethnic cleansing & forced exile of Palestinians for nearly a century. Ethics-based sanctions like this are what is needed to end Israeli criminal activity, as happened with Apartheid South Africa.”
Rabbi David Mivasair (@Mivasair) added on X that Canada’s revocation of JNF’s charity status will “set an example for other countries” to follow.
“In the U.S., if massive number of people report this to the IRS using IRS form 13909, that will get the ball rolling here as well,” wrote another.
